Born in South Wales, Jim studied music at Cardiff College of Music and Drama. During this period he won a number of Music Prizes. He was a member of the Student Orchestra of Great Britain, making music abroad and on BBC TV. He later served with the band of the Royal Artillery before joining the teaching profession. He taught in various schools in Shropshire before becoming Director of Music at a large Community College in Cambridgeshire. He joined the Shrewsbury Police Choir, singing as 2nd. Bass, in 1990 and became Deputy Conductor in 1993. He was appointed Musical Director in 1996 and his enthusiasm and commitment are responsible for the success of the choir since then. |
